Shoes! Shoes! Shoes!

Most people know I LOVE shoes, but it is no easy task to find them for my size 11 wide feet (let alone a pair I actually like and in my price range).

So imagine my delight to have 2 pairs of tiny girl feet to buy beautiful shoes for now (well to be honest, I've never purchased a pair of shoes for Kella, but she'll inherit plenty). Plus kids shoes are so much cheaper, I usually pay around $3.50/pair and never more than $7/pair.
Pictured above are the many shoes of Moira ranging in size from 5-7. She inherited my love of shoes and changes them multiple times a day. All but a couple pairs (on the back row) fit her at present, some are a little snug and others a little big (but that doesn't stop her). Probably half are hand-me-downs (thank you kind people!), 1 pair from the DI and everything I purchased was on sale (except for maybe the $5 Croc imitations from Walmart).

She also has 2 pair of winter boots (both fit, size 5 from last winter and size 6 for next winter).
That makes 28 pairs total! which doesn't count all the shoes too small for her that I've packed away for Kella.

So here I am thinking, man I don't have as many shoes as I used to. One time as a Jr in High School we were bored in Math class so a guy friend and I counted up how many shoes I had (from memory). The total at that time was 58! So I counted the shoes in my closet today.

Rich is nice and shares some of the floor space on his side of the closet.

Any guesses as to the grand total? . . . Thirty! Plus 2 pair of slippers. I do love shoes!

Shoe trivia: My most comfy pair of shoes? My Crocs (the real ones, not the imitations). Two years ago I hiked up a mountain top in my totally out-of-shape-state, carrying Moira half the time and my feet didn't even hurt (everything else did, but that's a story for another time). That's why I have 3 pairs of Crocs.
*Thanks to Niki for my brand new pair of orange Mary Jane Crocs yesterday (gotta love a steal on big shoes at Big Lots). They are so cute!

Shoe trivia: Above are the most expensive shoes I ever purchased. A pair of leather, steel toe Doc Martens for $140. My parents split the cost with me as a birthday gift (as a Sr in HS, what else would I spend my hard earned money on?).

Don't get any ideas, now I won't spend more than $20 for a good solid pair of shoes and usually less (when I can find them). A few weeks ago I got 2 pairs of "Croc-like" shoes at Walmart one orange and one brown for only $1 each. Steal!

And I thought I loved shoes. It was fun learning more about you and your big feet. I didn't know you wore an 11. Good thing you can still find good deals! I love that Moira has lots too. Now I don't feel so bad.

I love shoe shopping because it doesn't make me feel so bad that I have gained weight when I try them on. When I was in high school I had tons of shoes, granted I had two other sisters that wore the same size. Since I have gotten older I have lost many of those shoes to my younger, thinner sister (grumble) and find my closet lacks the luster it used to have with all different styles and colors to accessorize my outfits with. Now I am lame and only get shoes when they fall apart or Tyler throws them away because they almost kill me from falling off them so much.

I appreciate a fellow shoer. I love that Moira has a shoe for every outfit. How cute.

p.s. I love her pose in the top picture. What a cute, silly girl.

Wow, that is a lot of shoes. I definitely don't have that many. And of the shoes I do have 5 of them are flip flops which I broke my toe wearing last summer but I still wear anyway, much to my husband's dismay. Zoey only has about 5 pair of shoes total right now, and I felt bad she had so many. Ha!

Of all the types of shopping I don't like to do, shopping for shoes is one I can handle easily. You only have to take your shoes off, no waiting for a dressing room, going back and forth and shoes are just plain fun!
