California Vacation

Last week we had a wonderful time in California.

We left Sunday afternoon and drove to Las Vegas where we stopped at Main Street Station for a dinner Buffet. We then hit the strip to find the "Gold and Silver Pawn Shop" from the TV show Pawn Stars on the History channel. Luckily we drove right there (all I knew was that it was on the strip). It was fun to see the interesting things in the Pawn Shop, we didn't get to see any of the hosts because I guess they take Sunday off.

We stayed the night at Whiskey Pete's in Primm (hooray for a $20 room) then drove on to Oceanside, Ca Monday morning. It was nice to break up the trip and arrive at our destination in the daylight.

While in Oceanside we stayed 3 nights with my Great Uncle Rondo and Great Aunt Nancy (thank you!). We spent most of our time chillin' at the beach house Richard's family rented for the week (to celebrate his cousin's 5th wedding anniversary). It was wonderfully relaxing. The kids literally spent all day diggin in the sand and loved it!

Wednesday we spent the afternoon with my Grandma S and drove down to San Diego where we saw a puppet show in Balboa Park, ate yummy fresh mex for lunch and toured the Mormon Battalion Museum in Old Town. It was a lot of fun!

Thursday evening we drove up to Anaheim and strolled Downtown Disney. The kids enjoyed eating dinner at the Rainforest Cafe. The Lego store was great, but our favorite by far was the World of Disney store. Richard got so overwhelmed he didn't even buy anything (he wanted too much, but settled on something the next day). We booked a very cheap (but clean) hotel within 10 minutes walking to Disneyland for 2 nights.

Friday we got up bright and early and walked over to Disneyland for a day full of fun! We arrived on Main Street just a few minutes before they put the ropes down letting everyone in to the park. We brought our RideMax itinerary and followed it so well that we were done with everything the kids could ride by early afternoon. We even met some Princesses before lunch. Moira looooved that!

We ate dinner at Rancho del Zocalo, which I had researched before going. I had heard they had large portions so Rich and I could share, but they've toned it down a bit so I ended up getting 1 entree plus a side of 2 enchiladas. It was plenty of food and gave us energy to forge on in fun!

Moira's favorite ride, she loved shooting the bad guys!
Kella's favorite was the submarines.

By 7:30 pm the kids were tired so I took them to save a spot in front of the castle for the 9:25 pm fireworks. Meanwhile Richard went on the rides the kids were too short to go on. Luckily Moira and Kella both fell asleep in the stroller. I woke Moira up for the fireworks, which were awesome! Kella stayed asleep until we got back to the hotel at 11:00 pm.

Saturday after not nearly enough sleep we started the long drive home. It was uneventful and we arrived home around 11:00 pm. We had a wonderful trip and we all survived a week of sharing 1 room!

Sounds like you made the most out of every day and had a great time! Oh, what P wouldn't give to go to the Lego store.

Ooooo! How fun! Maybe one day (when we've struck gold—or oil) we'll take the troops out there too. :)

Sounds like a great trip!
