Here is more information:
Salt Lake County Library Services will celebrate the start of summer with the annual Summer Reading Kick-off Party at Wheeler Farm, 6351 S. 900 East, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. June 1.
In addition to special performances, crafts and activities, Hogle Zoo and the Utah Museum of Natural History will have exhibits for patrons to enjoy. Library patrons can sign up for the Summer Reading program at the party.
This is an outdoor event, so families are encouraged to bring a blanket and a picnic dinner.
Last year more than 14,000 county residents participated in the three-month Summer Reading program, which has separate programs for children, teens and adults.

Another cool thing Utha does that Idaho lames out at. Sure they have a summer reading program but heaven forbid they would do something cool to get it going.
Do you mean Saturday June 6? The 1st is not a Saturday. :)
Sorry--Just checked the slco link that you told us to check. It is Monday, June 1. :)
Thanks Loralee, I fixed it!
