At 1am this morning my water broke and I frantically packed a bag while Rich loaded the car and we took Moira out to his parent's house in Magna. We got to the hospital around 2:30am and by 5:30am I had my epidural and was able to take a nice 3 hour nap. Around 9:20am the nurse checked on me because Kella's heart monitor was doing something different and it turns out she was trying to come out. My nurse midwife came in and I literally sat up and she was born with one wimpy push on my part!
She was born at 9:41am, weighed in at 6lbs 14 oz and measured 19 1/2 inches long.
She has beautiful dark brown hair and is so sweet!
Moira loves to give her sister hugs and kisses!

August 16 is a great birthday -- I've had fifty-five birthdays on that day, so I know. I am so excited that we can enjoy it together!

When your Grandpa Lowell called this morning, he said to Quentin "you get a new grand-niece for your birthday!"
Quentin turned to us and said, "who do you think is having a baby, Tom, Brett, or Emily?" Amelia guessed Brett, Quentin guessed Tom, and I guessed Emily. Then Lowell said, Emily had a baby girl Kella this morning!
Boy were surprised! We didn't even know your mom was pregnant! We hadn't seen her since Tom's wedding!
I just loved the picture with Moira kissing you. You two are going to be such great friends!

Congrats. A little crazy that things happened early, but it sounds like it all worked out pretty well just the same.

I figure, water breaks in 3 situations: right after the husband hits REM sleep, 2. you are in a taxi cab, 3. you are in a stuck elevator. Glad everything came out alright. May you rub your tired eyes with happiness when you look into the eyes of your children!
